Into the Woods

For my Intro to Color final, I was feeling artistically restless. I wanted to create something bold and grandiose, something that would push me to fully commit to a major project. So, I booked a solo trip to the Oregon coast for two weeks, expecting some grand, eureka moment to strike. However, what I didn’t know was that April in Oregon is the wettest month of the year, and I found myself battling the elements. I managed only one hike during the entire two weeks I was there. But it was on that hike that I realized I’d been approaching my artistic process all wrong. Art takes time and dedication. While moments of beauty can happen in an instant, the journey of an artist is long, often dark, and full of challenges. But if you’re willing to keep pushing through, you might just find something beautiful on the other side.
